Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! The Halloween story will certainly come tomorrow since I'm really tired after the con and that I was busy all week. I will try to post as much stories as I can in the future and for those who think I stopped writing the AU stories, don't worry, I will continue writing them. "La chatte est noire."

Is that how you say, "The cat is black" in French?

I'm a little confused as to why its feminine because it use "La" instead of "Le" or "L' " And "Noire" instead of "Noir"

In French, a word can be masculine and feminine.

'Le chat': The cat (male)
'La chatte': The cat (female)

the word 'noir' means black but when the noun is feminine, the adjective changes. And because the noun, 'La chatte', is feminine, the adjective (noire/noir) will changes and you will put a 'e' at the end.

If you wanted to say 'Les chats sont noirs' or 'Les chattes sont noires' (there must be only females in the group but it's a little complicated to explain so I'll explain another time.) which mean 'The cats are black' for both cases. The word 'noir' will have a 's' because there is more than one cat. If you don't understand, I'll explain it in a note.
